[ New dates to be confirmed ] The 7th Farming System Design Symposium is postponed to March 20-23, 2022 in Tunis

After analysis of the evolution of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Scientific Committee of FSD7 has decided to postpone the FSD7 conference to 2022. We have considered that FSD conferences are a unique opportunity for the community of agri-food systems research across the globe to meet and discuss not only the advancement of science but also develop new projects and facilitate the integration of young scientists in our community. Organizing an online conference was, therefore, not considered as an option for FSD7.

All abstracts submitted so far have been reviewed and will be considered for the 2022 conference. Authors will receive specific feedback to confirm their willingness to maintain the submission and take time to improve the abstract when needed. Acceptance for oral or poster presentation in 2022 will be given at a later stage. A new wave of submission will be open, especially for the topics which received less attention.

At the same time, in order to keep the momentum and engage with the young scientists working in the global drylands, we will organize in March 2021 a series of short and interactive webinars to discuss the challenges and opportunities of systems analysis and design methodologies to support a systemic transformation of agri-food systems in the drylands under the climate crisis. Contributions to these webinars will be selected from the abstracts received so far. An FSD course for PhD candidates attending these webinars will also take place at the same time.

We wish all applicants, faculty and staff safety and good health.

MEDFORUM 2021 is organized by CIHEAM-IAMM and ICARDA with the support of Agropolis Foundation and will take place under the 7th Farming System Design (FSD) Symposium in Tunisia.

Launching of submissions to the Mediterranean Forum (MEDFORUM) 2021

After its previous versions in 2016 in Montpellier, France and 2018 in Bari, Italy, CIHEAM and ICARDA launch jointly the submission of applications for the MEDFORUM 2021. MEDFORUM 2021 will take place under the 7th Farming System Design (FSD) Symposium on 21-24 March 2021 in Tunisia. The general theme entails climate change with focus on "Designing Climate Smart Agricultural Systems for a Sustainable Transition in the Agri-food Systems of the Dry Areas".

Young scholars, researchers and current PhD students can now visit the forum website to review the general and specific themes and submission requirements under which their applications can be prepared. Applicants are mainly asked to prepare a short motivational video in which they should clearly state their arguments and innovative methods of onstage presentation.

Around 20 to 25 student applicants will be selected for financial support which will include the covering of registration and/or accommodation fees. Since the MEDFORUM 2021 is being organized under the 7th FSD Symposium, applicants are also asked to submit an abstract requested by the FSD. We wish all applicants good luck.
