About MEDFORUM

The Mediterranean Forum - MEDFORUM - is a bi-annual meeting point launched by CIHEAM in 2016 for PhD students and young researchers from the Mediterranean area. MEDFORUM aims to foster communication, dialogue and co-publications between various institutions conducting scientific research in the field of agri-food production and rural development in Mediterranean countries with focus on dry and arid regions. After its previous versions in 2016 in Montpellier, France and 2018 in Bari, Italy, an international online course was organized by CIHEAM-IAMM and its partner organizations in March 2021. This course was a pre-MEDFORUM communication that took place as part of a global FSD network (Farming System Design) on topics related to the design of sustainable farming systems in dry areas.

Online MEDFORUM 2021

In its continuing efforts to integrate and host collective dialogue while ensuring safety during the global COVID-19 pandemic, CIHEAM-IAMM is organizing a virtual MEDFORUM on 6 and 7 July 2021. In its online version, MEDFORUM 2021 will revolve around understanding the current status, emerging challenges, global uncertainties and coping mechanisms of agriculture and food systems around the Mediterranean. A systemic approach will be followed, and the forum will encourage the inclusion of topics at the micro, meso and macro levels of agri-food supply chains and the various actors involved, specifically women and youth and their socio-economic conditions. Please review the forum themes.

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and for your own safety, MEDFORUM 2021 will take place on an online basis via interactive conferencing platforms. MEDFORUM remains committed to provide all participants with the highest possible standards and benefit using available user-friendly and interactive methods. Further details on the online modality of the forum will be shared at a later stage.

Communications will be divided in three types:

  • Long oral presentations (10 minutes each)
  • Short oral presentations (5 minutes each)

Applicants are requested to follow the submission guideline. All MEDFORUM 2021 attendees will be expected to present a communication and are required to submit an abstract.

Selection of participants will take place with no discrimination on the basis of gender, race, religion, age, disability, marital status or any other relevant factor. Applications will be treated as first come first serve basis. The final selection and distribution will be based solely on the quality of applications. We are committed to providing an inclusive environment for all interested students and young scholars.

You can participate if you are:
